都内にある縮毛矯正に特化した美容室
縮毛矯正の施術は数時間に及び、カットまで含めると4〜5時間かかることもある。この長時間にわたる滞在はサロン経営においても、サービス内容や客層にも影響を与える、重要な要素であった。計画においても長時間の滞在を主軸に置き、時間が経てば意識から消えてしまうような、弱い空間を目指した。
店舗は壁式構造の躯体が部屋内に現れ、北向きのサッシからは安定した光と共に、小さな飲食店が並ぶ、雑多な都市の雰囲気が間近に見えていた。
これらの情報を弱めることを考えた。面同士の境目である出隅は、通常であれば角が立ち、空間の輪郭として現れる。柱や梁、壁、家具も含めて、出隅に丸みを持たせることで境界線を曖昧にし、空間の輪郭をぼやかした。躯体の凸部も丸みを帯び、柔らかな襞がつくる母体に包まれるような空間となった。
造作家具のシナ合板はホワイト拭取り塗装とし、床やカウンターのタイルなど、淡い色合いを選択した。窓際には薄いカーテンを、襞を重ねるようにかけ、都市の雑多な情報から距離を取った。
常に情報にアクセス可能な時代にあって、あらゆる情報から距離を置き、真に自分と向き合うための内向きなサロンである。
A beauty salon in Tokyo, specializing in hair straightening.
Hair straightening treatments take several hours, and can take as long as four to five hours if you include cutting. This long stay was an important factor in salon management, affecting the services offered and the clientele.
In designing the salon, we focused on long stays, aiming for a weak space that would fade from consciousness over time.
The structures, such a colums and beams, were visible inside the salon. The north-facing windows offered a steady light and a close-up view of the chaotic city, lined with small restaurants.
We were weakening the information. Corners, which are the boundaries between surfaces, are usually sharp and appear as the outline of the space. By rounding the corners of the pillars, beams, walls, and furniture, we blurred the boundaries and the outlines of the space. The convex parts of the structure are also rounded, creating a space that feels like being enveloped in a mother’s body of soft folds.
The furniture is made of white wipe-painted plywood, and pale colors were chosen for the floor and counter tiles. Thin curtains in folds were hung by the window, distancing yourself from the chaotic information of the city.
In an age where information is always accessible, this is an introverted salon where you can distance yourself from all information and truly face yourself.
